Britney Spears’ former husband has commented following news of her renewed connection with their son.
Their reconnection coincides with reports that the 42-year-old pop star will soon be relieved of paying child support to Kevin Federline when Jayden finishes high school this month.
Over the past 17 years, since their separation, Spears is said to have paid Federline approximately $5 million in child support for their two children.
While courts usually consider one’s income and other factors, such a sum is undeniably significant.
Spears and Federline were married from 2004 until 2007, during which they had two sons.
Due to Spears’ personal challenges, Federline was awarded full custody of their children in 2008, necessitating child support payments from the singer.
“The amount of money Britney has given Kevin for the two boys is extraordinary and it is enough for any man to support an entire family, which is what she believes he has done,” a source close to Spears told MailOnline.
TMZ now reports that Jayden has returned to California from Hawaii and is rebuilding his relationship with Spears.
A source shared with Page Six: “They have been spending a lot of time together.”
Another insider added: “Britney is thrilled to have her baby back. Everything is moving in the right direction.”
Following the news, Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, responded by stating to the publication: “If there has been a reconciliation it’s news to Kevin.”
Kaplan further clarified that Jayden and Federline communicate frequently and have not discussed any reconciliation between Jayden and Spears.
Since losing custody, Spears’ relationship with her children has been strained, although Jayden has always hoped for reconciliation.
In 2022, he told the Daily Mail: “I 100% think this can be fixed.
“It’s just going to take a lot of time and effort. I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better I really want to see her again.”
This follows the revelation of Spears’ conservatorship under her father, Jamie Spears, and attorney Andrew M Wallet, which began in February 2008 and concluded on November 12, 2021.
This arrangement involved a judge ruling that Spears’ personal and financial affairs should be managed by conservators, as she was deemed unable to do so herself.
